Overview
Students begin an art class or workshop by acquiring and reviewing fundamental drawing concepts and techniques in various media, including ink, graphite, pastels and collage.
Students also learn methods for developing individual content by looking at picture books and by using as a reference the paintings of famous artists. As pupils develop their ideas, they focus and hone their abilities in the media of their choosing, watercolors, acrylic or tempera.
The Process
Along with the instructor's guidance, students are encouraged to discover and invent strategies for combining diverse media, modes of representation, and design elements.
Through this process, students will create their own compositions and motifs according to their interest and imagination. The curriculum culminates with the students creating paintings inspired in famous fine arts works.
